the Overlake benches are a collection of multi-tiered outdoor benches manufactured by Washington-based furniture company Meyer Wells, with design concept by John Wells and design engineering and detailing for fabrication by me, Jordan Nelson. The project was completed for a commercial client in the Seattle area, and was installed in mid 2022.
Challenges for this project included designing a leveling solution for the sloped site, and ensuring the cantilevered center-post design can withstand the weight and stress forces of users sitting down and getting up, as well as ensuring the materials and finishes will withstand the demands of the rainy pacific northwest outdoor environment.
