As dogs age or are injured, many experience rear leg atrophy or paralysis that hinders their ability to move, explore, play, and enjoy a high quality of life.
There are many dog wheelchairs on the market, but most use small wheels designed for pavement, are difficult to fit and adjust, and are made of cheap, easily destroyed materials.
Scout is a new all-terrain dog wheelchair for dogs-on-the-go, which uses robust materials and suspension technology to keep your dog visiting the places it loves.
Note: This project was completed as part of studying industrial design at metropolitan state university of Denver and was solely for educational purposes and is not currently available for commercial sale.
the concept, frame design, and use application to dog wheelchairs is all original work by me, but the design utilizes existing, off-the-shelf ROSTA suspension units designed and sold by ROSTA. I claim no ownership to the concept of the suspension unit itself, only its application to my specific dog wheelchair design shown here.
ROSTA retains all intellectual property related to the suspension components themselves, and the parts shown to the left are a custom housing designed by me to fit the ROSTA unit to my dog wheelchair design, and were solely prototypes that I 3D printed for testing as part of an educational project.
